Shifting into high gear

Haven’t had much time to blog these days. In addition to my new part time job, I’m knee deep in Christmas projects and baking. Have I mentioned on here how much I love the holidays? I tend to get a little stressed out with all my little projects (I never seem to remember to start early enough) but I really really love it. I love the baking. I love making truffles. I love packaging the goodies up real pretty and delivering them. I love the music and the lights and the shopping and the wrapping; I love it all! Oh, and have I mentioned to anyone that I’m going to get to be Mary in the Las Posadas procession at church? and Elzy will be baby Jesus? and Patrick will be Joseph?! There’s a blog post in there for sure, I just wish I had time to write it.

I can’t post pictures of my Christmas goodies yet (wouldn’t want to spoil my surprises), but I can show you how FREAKIN’ cute Elzy is in the little santa hat Karen knit for her.

  1. Oh yes, she is definitely the picture of cuteness!! I just love the look on her face here. πŸ˜‰

    Congrats on being Mary!

And high gear? I am impressed, yet shamed and admiring, and probably a little jealous, too. I’m still trying to find my effing keys, man. Ha!

  2. Oh, OK, I see what you mean about the category…Haha! Yes, you nailed just what I was thinking about my actual status.

  3. But wait! Am I not part of your tribe?? πŸ˜›

  4. She looks too cute! Must…squeeze her! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season – eat some truffles for me – yummo!

  5. @ skwarepeg Ha, I was worried about that. Of course you’re part of my tribe! That’s the problem with dividing things into categories like that – so many of you belong in more than one. I’ll have to look into making sub-categories. I know that’s possible with tags. Of course, this was just a silly category created for fun… i’m not sure I’ll keep it very long.

oops – I read these out of order. No no no! The intent of this post was not to sound ΓΌber-ish, which I am so not! Please don’t feel bad because I have a baking disorder! I truly can’t stop myself at this point, it’s ridiculous.

I had a mini shame attack after posting this, fearing that I sounded like a total Polyanna. I was overflowing with good cheer when I wrote it, and I don’t generally allow myself to express that sentiment. Seems like most people in recovery tend to hate the holidays – and my spouse isn’t very fond of it himself. Anyway… I just wanted to verbalize the good stuff while I was feeling it. : )

  7. It is a beautiful sentiment, and one that I am both thrilled about you (a) having it, and (b) expressing it (c) so openly. πŸ˜‰

Truly. And you don’t sound like a Pollyanna (who is often unfairly maligned anyway, I’ll say, if I’m open and honest about it); you “sound” happy.
